"The Match" Likely To Return Next Summer In Primetime

It looks like the next iteration of “The Match” will be played on a mid-summer night next year and will include a NFL player, the made-for-tv event's exec producer Bryan Zuriff told SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio yesterday. Zuriff told hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz that his team already has had conversations with Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes about it. “Pat is somebody we’re definitely talking to, and he’s talking to us,” Zuriff said. “We’re excited about the potential of bringing a guy like him to the fold.” Zuriff also mentioned bringing back Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as possibilities. Zuriff said he plans to put Charles Barkley back in the booth and having Phil Mickelson and a non-golfer take on another pro and another non-golfer. “Probably in the football space next,” Zufiff said. “I’m thinking of a midsummer night, slow night in sports, and sort of The Match: Monday Night Golf edition, is kind of where I’m thinking.”
