American Legion Joins Jimmie Johnson's IndyCar Team As Sponsor

Jimmie Johnson, Tony Kanaan and Chip Ganassi Racing have "landed another major sponsor for the new No. 48 Honda entry in the IndyCar series," announcing a "multi-year agreement with The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans service organization," according to Nathan Brown of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. The American Legion "will be 'featured prominently' on the No. 48 during every race over the next two years" and will "serve as the primary paint scheme for two of Kanaan's races in 2021, including his 20th Indy 500 on May 30." In his formal announcement, which came during an appearance on this morning's "Fox and Friends," Johnson said that it was "important to make the announcement on Giving Tuesday." He "pledged a $10,000 donation to The American Legion and said he hopes others will follow suit -- possibly in $48 increments" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/1). Johnson said, “With two grandfathers that served and a brother-in-law that served, I’ve lived with the need for veterans firsthand in my home and I’m very excited to have this relationship" ("Fox & Friends," Fox News, 12/1).
