Mobilitie Will Power 5G at Target Center in Minneapolis

Target Center, home of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, is launching in-venue 5G connectivity through a new partnership with wireless infrastructure firm Mobilitie.

Mobilitie has deployed a system of more than 160 antennas and 45,000 feet of fiber to support 5G throughout Target Center for in-venue fans to access via their 5G-enabled devices. Fans were able to access 5G-powered virtual experiences during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in Chicago last February.

Some NBA teams are expected to admit reduced crowds this upcoming season, which tips off in December. However, teams such as the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers already announced that they’ll begin play without any fans at home games due to the coronavirus.
