Chris Myers Talks Short-Notice NFL Studio Show Duties

Myers did not know who would be his studio analysts or producers until later in the weekGetty Images

Fox' Chris Myers had a "scheduled off week from calling the NFL," but instead he "ended up hosting both Fox NFL Sunday and Fox NFL Kickoff alongside analysts Reggie Bush and Charles Woodson from the Fox Sports studios in Los Angeles," according to Richard Deitsch of THE ATHLETIC. Fox Sports in a statement said that the decision to change the cast was made “in accordance with CDC guidance, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health safety guidelines." Deitsch notes the usual on-air cast for Fox NFL Sunday is "not based" in L.A. Myers said that the assignment "came on very short notice." He "did not know who his studio analysts would be until later in the week," nor those who would be "producing and working in the control room." Myers said, "I had interviewed Reggie Bush and Charles Woodson when they were players but we had never worked together on a live show, let alone a two-hour pregame show. It was fun. I would be watching anyway if I was at home so the preparation was just leaning on the football knowledge of the season that I have because of calling games and knowing what the Fox standards are for a show like this.” One assist to Myers is that he knew that they "would have remotes with Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan, Peter Schrager and others helping out with information" (THEATHLETIC.com, 11/23).
