The Bruins on Friday sent a message to season-ticket holders on monthly payment plans, saying they were "canceling the upcoming December installment," which is a "change in ... payment policy," according to Matt Porter of the BOSTON GLOBE. Before making the change, the Bruins had collected 95% of '20-21 "season ticket costs." Fans were "frustrated to keep paying, with no dates on the calendar and no plan communicated to them." The Boston Globe on Thursday "brought to the Bruins the concerns of several longtime season ticket holders." Bruins CRO Glen Thornborough in an email wrote, “Payments continued as we hoped to have plans for the season announced but we recognize with the uncertainty we cannot continue with the December payment.” Porter noted last Monday, the Bruins sent season-ticket holders an e-mail that "asked for patience." Loge ticket-holder Jaci Donahe said that a "lack of transparency from the club during the pause 'left a bad taste.'" The club in its message wrote that as soon as the '20-21 schedule is settled, it "will relay options for season ticket holders regarding refunds, 'as well options for Season Ticket Holders to accrue interest on money which they leave in their account'" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/21).
CANUCKS GIVE FANS OPTIONS: In Vancouver, Patrick Johnston noted the Canucks are "telling fans they can take a wait-and-see approach with their wallets." During the summer, season-ticket holders were "given several payment options, from paying in full, choosing a multi-month payment plan or even deferring all their payments to a later date" (Vancouver PROVINCE, 11/21).
