Super Bowl LV in Tampa Will Be Cashless

The NFL and Visa have announced that Super Bowl LV in Tampa, as well as all future Super Bowls, will exclusively accept digital payment options. The 2021 event will be the first Super Bowl in history to operate completely cashless.

Fans will use electronic payment or mobile ordering options across parking, concessions, and retail at Raymond James Stadium, which is scheduled to host the Super Bowl on Feb. 7. All NFL-operated Super Bowl Experience events in Tampa will also be cashless.

Fan capacity at the Super Bowl is expected to be limited to around 20% due to the coronavirus. ATMs inside Raymond James Stadium will let fans exchange cash for pre-paid Visa cards worth up to $500, which can also be used outside the venue.

Visa’s sponsorship with the NFL as the league’s official payment services technology partner runs through the 2025 season. In 2019, the NFL and Visa first detailed their ambitions to someday host a cashless Super Bowl. Two years and one pandemic later, that reality will be fulfilled.
