President Gritty? Flyers Mascot Sees Twitter Bump After Receiving Votes

Gritty, the Flyers mascot, received some write-in votes during the presidential election, and the buzz around the orange creature continued throughout the week on Twitter. From Nov. 1-6, Gritty's Twitter handle (@GrittyNHL) was included in 1,028 posts, generating over 5.65 million impressions and 23,548 engagements. The number of impressions last week was more than 2.5 times greater than the prior five weeks combined, according to data provided to The Daily by Zoomph, a Virginia-based company that specializes in social audience intelligence and sponsorship tracking. Total engagements this week were more than double compared to the same time period (prior five weeks). Up until last week, the most posts (244) mentioning @GrittyNHL occurred during the week of Sept. 27, while the highest number of impressions (744,258) and engagements (5,824) also happened during the same window. This week, there were 345 more posts that included Gritty's handle than the previous five weeks combined. A video surfaced on Twitter early Friday morning showing a Gritty look-alike dancing in the streets of Philadelphia as the mascot joined a "Count Them All" protest. As a result, "Gritty" became a Trending topic on Twitter in the U.S.
