Binge Watching With Laureus USA’s Rachelle Patel

"Ted Lasso" on Apple TV+ has provided Patel with the feel-good vibes she's been craving amid the pandemicJ. CRUMP

This week, THE DAILY caught up with Laureus USA Dir of Marketing & Events RACHELLE PATEL to break down what’s on her watchlist. Some responses have been edited for clarity and brevity.

  • Since concerts, unfortunately, have not been a thing, “BLACK IS KING” is a much-welcomed musical experience. The visuals of this film are stunning, the outfits superb, the music coming to life through the storytelling power and creativity of BEYONCE.
  • TED LASSO” is the show I didn’t know I needed. This hidden gem combines many things I love: Soccer (or should I say football), British humor, American puns, well-timed sports references. Don’t let TED’s goofiness (JASON SUDEIKIS) let you underestimate the nuances, wit and even life lessons.
  • Even though only the premiere of “THIS IS US” Season 5 has aired so far, I’m already hooked. This season is set in current times, so it tackles the very real challenges 2020 has thrown our way. This show will pull on every heartstring you have while giving you so many moments of love.
  • A documentary revealing the inner workings and key principles of some of the greatest coaches in sports? Yes, please! “THE PLAYBOOK” is any sports fan’s dream, but, more importantly, shines a light on the values sport can teach outside of winning. I’ve dedicated my career to sharing the power of sport. The best coaches make better people, not just better players.
  • Amid the craziness of all things 2020, I missed the release of the new season of “INSECURE” this summer. My October was made when I realized that and promptly proceeded to binge watch the whole thing. This show is like nothing else out there. It gets you so invested in the characters, so that you are truly rooting for ISSA and MOLLY.
