Jim Richerson Voted In As New PGA Of America President

Troon Senior VP/Operations JIM RICHERSON was "voted in to succeed" PGA of America President SUZY WHALEY in that role at the 104th annual meeting of the organization, "conducted virtually," according to John Strege of GOLF DIGEST. In Richerson, the PGA of America is "getting a golf professional with an extensive background in business." He played college golf and became a PGA member in '95. Richerson was on the PGA BOD, "representing his Wisconsin district," from '13-15. In '16, he was "elected secretary of the PGA and two years later was elected vice president" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 10/29).

WRITER ELECTED HONORARY MEMBER: GOLF DIGEST's Ryan Herrington noted the PGA of America on Thursday elected former Golf Digest writer TIM ROSAFORTE an Honorary Member, "just the 12th person to receive that distinction and the first journalist." Rosaforte, who retired in December '19 and is fighting early onset Alzheimer’s, was hired by Golf Digest in '96. Rosaforte "moonlighted as a TV analyst," and "eventually went to work for Golf Channel and became a fixture on its news programs." Among the other PGA of America Honorary Members are three former presidents (DWIGHT EISENHOWER, GERALD FORD and GEORGE H.W. BUSH). BOB HOPE and GARY PLAYER also are Honorary Members (GOLFDIGEST.com, 10/29).
