NBC Sports Group Promotes Damon Philips To Larger Role

NBC Sports Group promoted DAMON PHILLIPS to Senior VP/Strategic Initiatives and Head of Diversity & Inclusion, reporting to Chair PETE BEVACQUA. In his new role, Phillips will oversee various content and strategy initiatives across the group and will be the day-to-day content leader for the NBC Sports Channel on Peacock. Phillips also takes on a new role overseeing diversity and inclusion at NBC Sports Group. Phillips currently lives in the DC area, but is expected to relocate to Connecticut. Phillips' move means that the company will start looking for someone to run NBC Sports Washington, though the timeline for his departure from the RSN has not been finalized. Phillips had led NBC Sports Washington for the past three years, during which time the channel became one of the most innovative RSNs in the country, particularly in the sports betting and esports areas. NBC Sports Washington launched the first live predictive-gaming telecasts in the NBA (January '19) and NFL (August '19). The RSN also was the first to produce broadcasts of NBA, NHL and WNBA video games at the beginning of the sports shutdown in March.
