Islanders Reveal UBS Arena Luxury Spaces, Inspired By Belmont Park

The Islanders on Friday "released new renderings" of their $1B UBS Arena, showing off the building's "luxury spaces that were designed to resemble a modern-day extension" of the neighboring Belmont Park, according to Jim Baumbach of NEWSDAY. The arena's suites, bars and gathering places for premium ticket holders will "remind many of the look and feel of the inside" of the racetrack, built in 1905 and refurbished in the '60s. UBS Arena "will have 55 suites," which is "significantly fewer than most recent arenas." There will be "four clubs that differ in both size -- ranging from 130 seats to 1,300" -- and also in the "design of the entertainment areas." Construction of the arena is "expected to be finished" in November '21, in time for the start of the '21-22 NHL regular season. Construction on the rest of the complex has "not yet begun" (NEWSDAY, 10/24).
