Louisville Group Denies Report Of Possible Raptors Stay

Former NBAer Junior Bridgeman said there was "absolutely no truth" to a Yahoo Sports story linking him to speculation about a temporary move by the Raptors to Louisville, according to Tim Sullivan of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL. Bridgeman, who is part of the NBA2LOU group, contacted MLSE Chair Larry Tanenbaum -- the two men are "partners in a Canadian Coca-Cola bottling operation -- to find out the facts." Bridgeman wrote in a text message, "I spoke to Larry. They are working on getting the (Canadian) government to allow teams to come into Toronto with testing and waiving the quarantine time" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 10/22).

ORIGINAL REPORT: YAHOO SPORTS' Vincent Goodwill cited sources as saying that with the Canadian border restrictions, one "alternate location" for the Raptors was Louisville. Bridgeman has "been in contact with the NBA," and the city has the KFC Yum! Center that is "NBA-ready." No decision "has been made yet," as it is on a "laundry list of topics to be discussed" at an NBA BOG meeting tomorrow. At that meeting, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will "focus on getting next season started on track," including the CBA, "competitive formats for next season and an update on the social justice coalition" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/21).
