PGA Merch Show Moves To "All-Virtual" Format Amid Pandemic

The '21 PGA Merchandise Show is "moving to an 'all-virtual' format, canceling one of the largest conventions" scheduled for Orlando's Orange County Convention Center, according to Trevor Fraser of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. The show usually "features more than 1,000 companies and brands showcasing new golf technologies and products." It traditionally "brings in more than 40,000 industry professionals for product launch events, networking and education." PGA Golf Exhibitions in a release noted that they "plan to return to Orlando for a live event in 2022." The virtual convention "will take place Jan. 26-29" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 10/22). GOLFWEEK's David Dusek noted over the past several weeks, Golfweek has "spoken with several major brands that indicated companies either planned to skip the 2021 PGA Merchandise Show entirely if it were held in person or send a handful of representatives to Orlando." The annual Demo Day at Orange County National Golf Club on the day before the trade show begins "seemed implausible to every brand with which Golfweek spoke" (GOLFWEEK.com, 10/21).
