Stephen Curry Partners With Literati To Launch Book Club

Warriors G Stephen Curry is "launching a book club called Underrated" in partnership with Literati.com, according to Connor Letourneau of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The club "concentrates on authors and stories often overlooked by the mainstream public." Members "will receive a hardcover copy of each month's book, as well as access to online discussions moderated by Curry or other celebrities such as Malala Yousafzai and Richard Branson, for $20 a month." Curry "chose Wes Moore's 'The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates' for the club's first book." For the month of November, the club "will read Arshay Cooper's 'A Most Beautiful Thing: The True Story of America’s First All-Black High School Rowing Team'" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/20). Curry is not the first athlete to launch a book club, as former Colts QB Andrew Luck and LeBron James also have started similar clubs in recent years (THE DAILY).

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND GOLF: VARIETY's Brian Steinberg noted Turner Sports' newest edition of "The Match" will feature Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley taking on Curry and Peyton Manning on Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. AT&T, Callaway Golf, E-Z-GO, Wheels Up and Oxigen Water (in which Curry has an ownership stake) "will all be associate sponsors."
