French Women's Soccer League To Air Matches On ESPN+ In New Deal

France's D1 Feminine "will air on ESPN+ with 18 matches streamed in the U.S. during the 2020-21 season," the latest European women's soccer league to "strike an agreement with a U.S. network," according to Paul Kennedy of SOCCER AMERICA. The agreement was "brokered with Canal+, which exclusively distributes" D1 Feminine internationally, in "partnership with Atalanta Media, the women’s soccer company involved in the deal" with England's FA Women's Super League and NBC Sports. There are 20 Americans "currently playing" in D1 Feminine. The league, with chemical company Arkema as title sponsor, is "dominated by Lyon, which has a 76-game unbeaten streak in league play" going back to '16. It has won 14 consecutive league titles and five straight UEFA Women's Champions League titles (SOCCERAMERICA.com, 10/8). The contract with ESPN+ is for three seasons and will see one D1 Feminine match broadcast live per weekend on the net (FFF).
