Memorabilia Investment App Rally Raises $17 Million

Rally, an app that lets users buy and sell equity shares in sports memorabilia and other collectibles, has announced a $17 million financing round. Rally also announced that George Leimer, a former executive at ESPN, Apple, and eBay, has joined the startup as its new CEO.

Leimer most recently worked as the SVP of data platforms at The Walt Disney Company. Rally’s latest round was funded by existing investor Upfront Ventures, alongside new investors Porsche Ventures, Raptor Group, Global Brain, Relay Ventures and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. The raise brings Rally’s total funding to $27 million. Founded in 2017, Rally says it now has 200,000 users.

Users on Rally can invest in items across 10 categories: Sports Cards and Memorabilia, Trading Cards, Comic Books, Video Games, Rare Books, Wine, Vintage Watches, Handbags and Collector Cars. This month, Rally plans to sell shares in an original 1937 Heisman Trophy and an autographed Mike Trout rookie card. Our Joe Lemire previously wrote about the startup.
