Esports Event Organizers ESL and DreamHack Merge

Esports competition organizer ESL has merged with gaming festival organizer DreamHack to form a new company called ESL Gaming. The new company will host both in-person and online professional esports competitions with fan events for casual gamers.

The companies plan to push new innovations that serve fans and communities across events, platforms, formats and game titles. Their efforts will span casual to professional levels globally. The new corporate structure will be led by ESL Gaming Co-CEOs Craig Levine and Ralf Reichert.

The deal gives partners more opportunities to engage with ESL and gaming fans through a wider range of activations across all levels of esports and fandom. In February, gaming research firm Newzoo predicted that the global esports audience would reach 495 million this year.
