David Levy Joins Andbox Esports Organization As Chair, Investor

N.Y.-based esports organization Andbox has added DAVID LEVY as a "new investor and Chairman of the company’s advisory board," according to Kevin Hitt of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. Levy was the "driving force" behind ELeague during his time as Turner Sports President. Andbox has teams in the Call of Duty and Overwatch Leagues and a new Valorant squad. Levy joins a list of investors for this Series B round of funding that "includes some very recognizable names and companies," including Sterling Equities, Allen & Company, The Pohlad Companies, actor MICHAEL B. JORDAN, GIPHY co-Founder & COO ADAM LEIBSON, among others. Levy "got his first introduction" to esports in '15 when he walked into his then 19-year old son’s room as he was watching a Fortnite event on Twitch. Levy learned that esports "hit home on the 'magic' demographic that all advertisers look for -- the elusive 18 to 34-year olds." Levy said, "You can't find them anywhere. They've literally abandoned television. ... The demographics excited me. Could I bring them back and if so how can I get them the diversity of the audience.” As the world and audiences "become better connected, Levy believes there are four competitive entertainment properties that will supplant the rest" -- soccer, basketball, combat sports, and esports. Levy: "They're just going to end up really pulling away from the pack" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 10/1).
