SBJ Unpacks: Honeywell Helping NFL Panthers Fans Return Safely

The Panthers will welcome a limited amount of fans to Bank of America Stadium for the first time this NFL season when they host the Cardinals on Sunday, and the team has enlisted the support of Honeywell to bolster safety at the stadium. On the latest edition of the "SBJ Unpacks: The Road Ahead" podcast, Honeywell Senior Sales Manager Tom Sumner joins our Andrew Levin to discuss the company deploying an air-quality monitoring dashboard at the facility, and offering PPE packs to fans and staff.

On what upgrades Honeywell has made to the stadium:
Sumner: We have really been proactive with the Panthers throughout this year, really going back to the springtime. We’re focused right now on a couple of major items, the No. 1 being PPE for all the fans to make sure we’re maintaining protection. And secondly is an analytical dashboard that really is focused strictly on the healthy aspects of the stadium to make sure we’re looking at the conditions that are conducive to maintaining health.

On whether the system is fully integrated and ready to go at Bank of America Stadium:
Sumner: What we’ve done to this point is focus on specific areas that we know are closed, especially those areas where the players are because, of course, the players are in that stadium every day, and so we’re focusing there first. That would include your locker room; that would include your weight room, areas where the fans are, of course, as well as focusing on the office areas in the stadium. Those are our primary focuses right now, and that’s where we’ve actually deployed, and then we’re expanding as we go further along.

On the Panthers and Honeywell collaborating to distribute complimentary PPE packs to fans and the branding opportunity this presents:
Sumner: This is a sealed pack that is branded with the Panthers’ logo on it, so very identifiable that it is a health pack from the Panthers. So, what’s inside? Once you open up this sealed pack, the very first thing you’re going to see is a surgical mask. So, for those who lose their mask or those who maybe came to the stadium without a mask, that will be provided for them. Secondly to that, of course, there’s a sanitizing wipe, so if you have the need to wipe your seat, to wipe anything around you … and lastly, there’s a sanitizer (for your hands).
