Drones To Help Sanitize Areas Of Mercedes-Benz Stadium

AMB Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of the Falcons and Atlanta United, is preparing to host fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium beginning this month with a couple of technology-based measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. AMB has partnered with Lucid Drone Technologies to use two custom disinfecting drones to sanitize areas of Mercedes-Benz Stadium more efficiently and effectively. The drones will be used for the Falcons' home game against the Panthers on Oct. 11. AMB Senior Dir of Corporate Communications & Marketing Heather Sautter said the drones allow for a 95% reduction in time spent cleaning the seating bowl. AMB will redeploy associates who previously used backpack foggers to clean the seating bowl to other duties in the stadium, Sautter added. AMB also is installing two Evolv Express touchless security screening systems manufactured by Massachusetts-based Evolv Technology at the venue. The systems will eliminate the the need for stopping, emptying pockets and removing bags at two of the stadium's gates. The Falcons are the first sports team to use the system with fans in the U.S., Sautter said. While other teams are testing the system at their stadiums, the Falcons tested it last season.
