Myriad Factors Hurt Stanley Cup Final Viewership Figures

A change in date and glut of other live sports programming led to NBC Sports drawing its lowest Stanley Cup Final viewership since '07, as the six-game Lightning-Stars series averaged a total audience delivery of 2.15 million viewers. Ducks-Senators in '07 averaged 1.80 million viewers on TV only. Last year's Blues-Bruins Cup Final, which aired in its traditional June timeslot and went seven games, averaged a TAD of 5.47 million viewers. The Lightning's clinching win on Monday night earned 2.95 million viewers on NBC. Across NBC, NBCSN, CNBC and USA Network, the '20 Stanley Cup Playoffs averaged 953,000 viewers. Last year's postseason averaged 1.53 million viewers, marking the most-watched NHL playoffs in 23 years.
