Montana and his wife thwarted the attempted kidnapping of their infant grandchildGETTY IMAGES

A woman on Saturday afternoon "entered the California home" of Pro Football HOFer JOE MONTANA and "tried to kidnap" his 9-month-old grandchild, according to officials. The woman, SODSAI DALZELL, "took the infant from a playpen and went upstairs" at Montana's Malibu home. Officials said that is where Montana and his wife, JENNIFER, confronted Dalzell and "tried to 'de-escalate the situation'" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/27).

NAMES: The Steelers "welcomed five new members to their Hall of Honor" on Friday evening, including DWIGHT WHITE, MIKE WAGNER, JAMES FARRIOR, GREG LLOYD and TROY POLAMALU. This fourth class to be honored brings the total number of honorees to 41. Steelers President ART ROONEY II said that plans to honor the five new members "are not finalized due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but his hope is to have a ceremony before fans either this year or next year" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 9/26)....Grizzlies coach TAYLOR JENKINS on Saturday "greeted fans, handed out T-shirts for fans and briefly carried a 'Vote' sign with volunteers outside FedExForum for the team's voter education drive." The drive-thru event also "gave fans a chance to fill out census forms." It was the "latest step of the team's #GrizzVotes campaign" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 9/27).

IN MEMORY: Pro skateboarder and Huf Founder KEITH HUFNAGEL died on Thursday at 46 from brain cancer. Hufnagel, who grew S.F. streetwear boutique Huf into a global apparel company by the same name, had battled brain cancer "for two and a half years." In '92, Hufnagel moved to California and became a professional skateboarder, riding for companies like Real Skateboards, Thunder Trucks and Spitfire Wheels. In '02, he opened the first Huf and in time "expanded to new locations and became catnip for sneakerheads." Huf apparel "became known for irreverent T-shirts, capacious and durable pants and hoodies, and limited runs of products pegged to musical acts like Smashing Pumpkins, cartoon characters like Felix the Cat and products like Budweiser" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/27).
