Tua Tagovailoa Says He Will Live On Endorsement Money

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa said he is "going to be living off the marketing money, the endorsement money that I get, and then everything else is just put to the side." Tagovailoa, appearing on GQ's "My First Million" video series on YouTube, said, "The money that I'm making from my contract, that's put to the side, so none of that's going to be seen." Tagovailoa on his spending thus far: "I bought a car for my mom. It was a 2020 Escalade. I actually trusted my marketing guys to help me with that, so on Mother's Day I ended up calling my marketing team and ask them if they could help me get a car." He continued, "I ended up getting a Ford Flex, and then a BMW." Tagovailoa said, "The biggest thing that I was looking for in a house was a yard, because if a pandemic ended up happening again where we couldn't go to a park, or you couldn't go to a gym, I'd just be able to go out to the backyard and just be able to do my foot work, get my throwing in, and just be able to have everything here." Tagovailoa said he spent $80,000 on his mom's Escalade and his BMW, $40,0000 on the Ford Flex, $10,000 on a Rolex for his dad, $4,000 on his earrings and Apple Watch, $30,000 for his gym equipment and $1.6M on his house ("My First Million," GQ, 9/25).

GOOD WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT: YAHOO SPORTS' Jack Baer noted everything Tagovailoa buys is "reviewed by his financial advisors on a monthly basis." Tagovailoa currently is "pulling in money from at least four different endorsement deals, as he announced partnerships with Adidas, Bose, Muscle Milk and Wingstop back in April" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 9/26).
