Oregon AD Not Interested In Early Morning Pac-12 Kickoffs

Univ. of Oregon AD Rob Mullens is "not keen on the idea" of early morning kickoffs in the Pac-12, according to James Crepea of the Portland OREGONIAN. The Pac-12′s contract with Fox "doesn’t call for such early games," but "would allow for it if the two teams involved were on board and the network was interested." Mullens said, “For us a 9 a.m. [PT] kick is difficult because of the wake-up time, what time you’d be eating breakfast. While it doesn’t impact the fans (this year) it would still impact our student-athletes. We haven’t dug deep into it, but now when you layer in the daily testing that’s going to be required and the length of time it takes to do that process before you know who’s even available, I don’t think the University of Oregon is going to be raising our hand for a 9 a.m. kickoff.” Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott "wouldn’t rule out the possibility of 9 a.m. games being an option for the Pac-12’s 6+1 schedule this season" (Portland OREGONIAN, 9/27).
