Mariners To Use Oura Rings To Monitor Players' Sleep, Health

The Mariners are collaborating with Oura Health for players and staff to use its smart rings. The Oura Rings will provide team members with biometric data about their sleep, activity and recovery habits to deliver a holistic overview of their health and performance readiness. The Mariners, the first MLB team to use Oura Rings, will receive actionable insights into the data. The Oura Ring tracks all stages of sleep by measuring key physiological signals such as temperature, heart rate, heart rate variability and respiratory rate. The data feeds into a daily Sleep Score, which is provided each morning via the Oura app, as well as a Readiness Score, which allows the individual to quantify how their body is recovering. Mariners Exec VP & GM Jerry Dipoto in a statement said, "The opportunity for us to partner with Oura is an exciting step in our ongoing pursuit of high performance, both on the field and off." With the onset of COVID-19, Oura believes its technology carries additional benefits, saying that "signals from the ring have been found to uncover potential early signs of illness." Oura CEO Harpreet Singh Rai in a statement said, "Oura Ring measures changes in a person's biometric data with unmatched precision, empowering team members to better monitor their health."
