FedExForum will not be a polling place in November but that "hasn't stopped the Grizzlies from expanding their voting campaign," as the team "will host a drive-thru voter information drive on Saturday" at the arena. It will be the team's "latest initiative to increase voting registration and education" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 9/24). 

DEACONS IN THE NEWS: Thunder G and NBPA President CHRIS PAUL spoke at JOE BIDEN's Black Economic Summit in Charlotte yesterday (THE DAILY)....Former Wake Forest AD RON WELLMAN won the Homer Rice Award (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 9/24). 

IN MEMORY: BETTY BUSHMAN, the "first woman to call a major-league baseball team’s games," which she did on radio for the Kansas City Athletics, died on Sept. 3 in her condominium in K.C. She was 89. Bushman worked on "15 games before her contract expired" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/23).
