NFL Media Notes: Twitter Wins Video Battle In Week One

Twitter said that it had the "most NFL video views among all social platforms for week one, including highlights and interviews, 23% more than the runner-up." The social network saw a "34.4% rise in video views" compared with the same week in '19, and a "71.9% jump in uploads." ADWEEK's David Cohen noted the Chiefs were the most-mentioned team and Buccaneers QB Tom Brady was the most-mentioned player (ADWEEK.com, 9/17).

NOT THERE YET: In Miami, Barry Jackson notes the Dolphins' Week One rating "improved a bit from last year’s historically low numbers, but they’re still nowhere close to levels from just a few years ago." Dolphins-Patriots on WFOR-CBS drew a 10.7 local rating in Miami-Ft Lauderdale, "a bit better than many games last year but not at the level of the 13 to 19 ratings that Dolphins games generated locally most of the past decade" (MIAMI HERALD, 9/18).

FIRST GAME ISSUES: In DC, Scott Allen noted the "most common complaint" on social media about Sunday's Washington Football Team radio broadcast was that Senior VP/Media Julie Donaldson and analyst DeAngelo Hall "too often reacted excitedly to something that happened on the field" before play-by-play announcer Bram Weinstein had "finished describing" the play. Donaldson "responded directly to many fans on Twitter, promising to be better about not talking over Weinstein." She made "no apologies for the excitement level" (WASHINGTON POST, 9/17).
