Under Armour Develops New Basketball Shoe Just For Women

Under Armour has a "new court-ready basketball shoe on the way -- and it is only for women," as the new UA HOVR Breakthru is "designed specifically for the unique demands of the female foot," according to Peter Verry of FOOTWEAR NEWS. UA said that the look was "developed for women, by women." UA Associate Product Line Manager Sasha Chaplin "conducted wear tests with local high schools and college programs." In January, the company "consulted the Chinese national women's 3x3 team at its Baltimore and Portland campuses." UA moving forward "will use the insights" of WNBA rookies Dallas Wings F Bella Alarie, G Tyasha Harris and Connecticut Sun G Kaila Charles, "some of its newest ambassador additions." UA said that it "will deliver the shoe in new and interesting colorways that reflect the uniqueness of today's female athlete" (FOOTWEARNEWS.com, 9/15).
