HearMeCheer Inks First Football Partnership With Iowa State

Iowa State has partnered with Toronto-based startup HearMeCheer, the app that aggregates noise from viewers at home to be used inside venues and on broadcasts. The Cyclones are the first college program to partner with HearMeCheer.

HearMeCheer was used at Jack Trice Stadium this past Saturday when Iowa State played Louisiana-Lafayette in its home-opener football game, though coronavirus restrictions prohibited fans from attending. Fans at home were able to open the HearMeCheer web app, which collects sounds from the microphones of a user’s smartphone, tablet, or computer. The app’s algorithms convert the collected fan noises into one audio stream that’s played inside Jack Trice Stadium.

Iowa State is both the first football team and college program to partner with HearMeCheer. Last month, HearMeCheer signed a deal to be integrated into all New York Red Bulls game broadcasts for the remainder of this season.
