USC AD Mike Bohn Fortifying Athletics During First 10 Months

Under Bohn's leadership, the football staff has been upgraded, and the social media presence has improvedGETTY IMAGES

Last week marked the one-year anniversary of Lynn Swann’s resignation as USC AD, a role for which he was "entirely ill-equipped and miscast," according to Jon Wilner of the San Jose MERCURY NEWS. Two months later, the school hired Mike Bohn from "outside the USC family," and since then, he has "fortified the USC athletic infrastructure." Under Bohn's leadership, the football staff "has been upgraded," and the social media presence "has improved." In addition, resources have "been redirected," and the "culture and execution are better." Perhaps a "better way to frame Bohn’s tenure is by what he hasn’t done: He hasn’t done anything that reminds us of his predecessors." Wilner: "Finally, at long last, the department has its you-know-what in order, thanks to Bohn. Whether that translates to immediate football success -- whenever the Trojans return to competition -- is anyone’s guess" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 9/13).
