NFL Adds Its First Latin American Sports Betting Partner

Online sportsbook Betcris has signed a deal to become the NFL’s first official betting partner in Latin America. Betcris, which operates out of Costa Rica, is now the NFL’s second international sports betting partner after Tabcorp signed a deal for Australian rights last year.

Betcris will receive official NFL data to power the company’s sports betting offerings across Mexico, Central America and Spanish-speaking South America. The sportsbook will also sponsor next year’s NFL game in Mexico, assuming the game is able to be played. All scheduled international NFL games (four in London and one in Mexico City) were canceled this year because of the pandemic.

Betcris signed a similar deal in July to become Major League Baseball’s first betting partner in Latin America. In 2013, a New York prosecutor alleged that Betcris, which is not authorized to accept wagers in the U.S., had involvement in an illegal bookmaking operation based in Florida, as reported by ESPN.
