Bulls Announce Voting Initiatives Aimed At Fans, Players, Staff

The Bulls announced several initiatives "aimed to motivate fans, players and front office staff to exercise their right to vote this Fall," after previously declaring Election Day to be a paid day off for all employees, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC SPORTS CHICAGO. Bulls Gs Zach LaVine, Coby White and Ryan Arcidiacono, along with C Wendell Carter Jr. and F Chandler Hutchison, "taped public service announcements." They also established fan engagement plans, including a "virtual registration hub," and players and front office staff "participated in a voting education session." The Bulls, in conjunction with the United Center and their co-tenant, the Blackhawks, said they are "working with city officials to explore the possibility" of using the building as a polling location this November (NBCSPORTSCHICAGO.com, 9/3).

WARRIORS IN ACTION: The Warriors are rolling out three voter initiatives in the Bay Area with the team’s former practice facility in Oakland and the team's G-League affiliate's home in the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz to both serve as polling sites for the November election. The Oakland facility will also serve as a poll worker training location. In addition, the Warriors will make its “Thrive City” outdoor district around Chase Center in S.F. a ballot drop-off location from Oct. 31-Nov.3. The Warriors said they discussed using Chase Center as a polling place with the S.F. Department of Elections, but it was determined that arena was not needed as a location with the local election officials already working to ensure adequate polling locations and volunteers around the county. The Warriors are the latest team to follow NBA trend to use arenas and other facilities as polling locations or other voting initiatives as part of its agreement with players to resume games after the recent boycott in Orlando (John Lombardo, THE DAILY).
