Univ. of North Carolina AD Bubba Cunningham said that the school "expects to lose between" $30-52M of projected revenue for the '20-21 season, according to C.L. Brown of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER. Cunningham in a letter posted on the UNC athletics site added that the university will "reduce salaries for coaches and staff members beginning next month and running [for] the fiscal year that ends on June 30, 2021." Cuts will be 20% for those "making more than $200,000 a year" and 10% for those "making between $100,000-200,000." Coaches and staff members making less than $100,000 will be "furloughed for 15 days." Cunningham added that the school has "already implemented a number of budget cuts including a freeze on spending and hiring for 17 full-time positions that are open." Cunningham said that the projected revenue for the '20-21 budget from ticket sales and multimedia was a combined $56.9M, which accounted for "slightly more than half" of the $110M estimated athletic department budget (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 9/4).

CUTOUT OPPORTUNITY: INSIDE CAROLINA's Grant Hughes reported UNC is giving fans the "opportunity to make their presence felt in Kenan Stadium through the purchase of personalized cutouts." They can be a "picture of the fan and can include friends and family." The base model will cost $50. For $75, fans can "ensure their stand-in will be signed by an assistant coach." For $150, the team will "take a picture of the cutout in the locker room and have it signed by [coach] Mack Brown." The cutouts will "remain in Kenan Stadium" for the '20 season and fans will be able to pick up their cutout "following the final game." UNC stated that the money they raise will "benefit the athletic program as a whole" (247SPORTS.com, 9/2).
