Media Notes

The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Rick Porter noted Peacock is "further bulking up its live sports offerings, joining NBC and Golf Channel in covering" September's U.S. Open. The NBCU streaming platform "will stream two hours of live coverage for each day of the tournament" from Winged Foot. Peacock's U.S. Open content "will also include featured holes and featured groups of players." The championship "will be part of the service's free tier and will have the late window (5:00-7:00pm ET) on the first day of play, followed by the earliest groups on the tee the remaining three days" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 8/25).

GET THE DIGITS: In Chicago, Phil Rosenthal notes during NBC Sports Chicago's pregame White Sox coverage last night, former team manager Ozzie Guillen told commentator Chuck Garfien that he "would really like fans back at Guaranteed Rate Field." Garfien said that Guillen "should call Chicago Major Lori Lightfoot about allowing that to happen." Guillen "responded by giving out his mobile phone number before Garfien could stop him." By the time Guillen got back to his desk after the show, "his phone was ringing and calls were starting to arrive" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 8/26).

COMEBACK KID? In N.Y., Andrew Marchand cites sources as saying that WFAN is "methodically going through the process as it builds toward" making former station host Craig Carton "an offer." The outlet "has not made one yet, but at this point one is expected in the relatively near future." Sources said that Carton "has received serious interest to do mornings from a top Philadelphia all-sports station," WPEN-FM. However, WFAN "remains the clear favorite" (N.Y. POST, 8/26).
