"Hard Knocks" Episode 3 Features SoFi Scrimmage, Brett Favre

The third episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks" last night featured a Rams scrimmage that was "as good as we're going to get as far as real pro football action" until the season begins, according to Jim Reineking of USA TODAY. Three weeks away from hosting the Cowboys in the '20 season opener on "SNF," the Rams "got their first look at new SoFi Stadium." The episode also featured a video chat between Rams rookie LB Clay Johnston and his father, former NFL assistant coach Kent Johnston, where Pro Football HOFer Brett Favre "joins in" (USA TODAY, 8/26). In L.A., Emmanuel Morgan notes the episode "showed players competing for the first time in pads, while expanding on who they are off the field." Chargers DE Melvin Ingram "'held in' during a few practices in training camp because he was unsatisfied with his contract situation." Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said to Ingram, "I appreciate you being out here." The Chargers then restructured Ingram's contract, guaranteeing him $14M through the end of the season. The episode ended with the Rams scrimmaging at SoFi, with the offense "wearing rebranded 'bone' white uniforms and the defense in royal blue" (L.A. TIMES, 8/26).
