Professional Fighters League Seeks $50M To Expand For '21 Return

The Professional Fighters League is seeking $50M in "another round of funding to expand operations" before its planned return in '21, according to Jabari Young of CNBC.com. PFL Chair Donn Davis said that the league raised $105M "since its start" in '18, including a $28M Series B in '18 and $50M Series C in '19. Young noted the PFL hopes the new funding will "help plans for international expansion." Davis said that the PFL is "two years away from breaking even as it looks to solicit more investors" for its $50M round, and "plans to use the funds to expand the PFL’s technology for its over-the-top platform." The PFL said that it is "planning for a bubble environment" in Las Vegas for '21 should live events not return due to COVID-19. Young noted the series has a regular season and a postseason and concludes with six championship competitions. The PFL also "wants to build its media rights market after a deal with ESPN expires" following the '21 season (CNBC.com, 8/24).
