SEC Will Require Fans to Be Masked at Football Games

The Southeastern Conference has released a list of health and safety guidelines for its schools to follow during the upcoming college football season.

While the SEC’s 14 member schools must wait for local and state government policies to determine permitted fan capacity in venues, the conference has installed a baseline of rules and regulations that include mandatory use of face coverings for all guests.

The SEC also developed guidelines for food, beverage and merchandise stands. Guests will be prohibited from operating condiment carts and drink refill machines. Social distancing practices will also be enforced on shuttles that transport fans to stadiums.

All SEC football venues will only accept digital tickets this season. Tailgating activities will be permitted on stadium property as long as fans follow local and state coronavirus safety guidelines, or CDC recommendations.

While the Big Ten and Pac-12 canceled their fall football seasons due to the pandemic, the remaining Power 5 conferences (the SEC, ACC, and Big 12) appear committed to playing football this fall.
