HearMeCheer To Provide Fan Noise During Red Bulls Broadcasts

HearMeCheer, the app that aggregates crowd noise from viewers at home for use in broadcasts, has signed its first team partnership with the New York Red Bulls of MLS. The partnership kicks off with tomorrow’s match against NYCFC at Red Bull Arena, which is closed to fans due to New Jersey’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Fans using HearMeCheer will have their cheers and jeers added to MSG broadcasts of Red Bulls home games for the remainder of this season. The app collects sounds from microphones in participating fans’ smartphones, tablets or computers and uses low-latency algorithms to blend the disparate fan reactions into a single audio stream.

HearMeCheer was first tested during the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan and was used for live ESPN coverage of Top Rank Boxing earlier this summer. The app was developed by Toronto-based ChampTrax and its 20-year-old founder and CEO, Elias Andersen.
