Aaron Judge Hopes Pepsi Deal Draws Young People To MLB

Yankees RF Aaron Judge calls his new sponsorship and marketing deal with Pepsi a "big opportunity" to help draw more young people to MLB, according to Marly Rivera of ESPN.com. Judge as part of the campaign will take part in "national promos centered around the two-time All-Star reaching out directly to fans." He said, "In baseball, a lot of our superstars aren't out there. But I think social media is going to start slowly helping us out. A lot more guys are getting on social media. A lot more are reaching out to fans, interacting." Noting how LeBron James constantly interacts with fans via social media, Judge said, "That's where it starts with us, just being more vocal and letting the fans see the personal side of us." Rivera notes that Judge has "embraced his role" as one of the faces of MLB. That likely will help the sport, as fans "will only be drawn to a particular sport by its stars." Judge already is "one of the most popular players in baseball," as evident by his No. 99 jersey being the "top seller in all of MLB" during the first three full seasons of his career (ESPN.com, 8/14).
