Glory Road: Bruckheimer Details Path To Kraken, Seattle's Potential

Bruckheimer said interest in the team has even gotten hotter since the name and branding were announcedGETTY IMAGES

Kraken co-Owner and film producer Jerry Bruckheimer detailed his long quest to land an NHL team on the latest episode of Devils D P.K. Subban's podcast, saying he "always had (his) eye on Seattle from the very beginning." Bruckheimer said he had talked with the NHL at various times about buying the Penguins and Ducks, as well as landing a team in Las Vegas before the Golden Knights were awarded to Bill Foley. However, Bruckheimer called Seattle a "great sports market" and talked about its potential. He said, "They sell-out, they love athletics there and it’s a competitive market. But I think it's going to be an explosion. As an example, we already have 51,000 people on a waiting list to buy tickets. We sold out. We sold out in the first 10 minutes when we put the tickets on sale." Bruckheimer said interest in the team has "even gotten hotter" since the name and branding were announced last month. Bruckheimer: "We're one of the three or four top-selling sports teams in merchandise, and we don't have a team." One offshoot of the team's popularity is that proceeds from the sale of Kraken merchandise "for a month is all going to charities in the Seattle area," and the team is "raising an enormous amount of money" ("P.K.
