NFL COO Maryann Turcke Stepping Down From Position

NFL COO MARYANN TURCKE is “stepping down from her position as part of a broader shake-up inside the NFL’s headquarters,” according to Andrew Beaton of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. Turcke, who was the “No. 2 at the league offices” after taking the position in '18, will become an executive adviser to Commissioner ROGER GOODELL. She said that there was “no specific impetus for the change but that it was the right time for her personally and professionally to make the transition to a part-time role.” Turcke, who is Canadian, “also noted the difficulty of crossing the border during the pandemic.” Beaton cites a league memo as stating that Turcke will not be replaced; CMO TIM ELLIS and Exec VP/Club Business & League Events PETER O’REILLY, who “previously reported to Turcke will now report to Goodell directly.” The memo also stated that Chief People Officer DASHA SMITH will become the new Chief Administrative Officer (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 8/12).
