Coronavirus Outbreak Keeps St. Louis Cardinals Sidelined

The three-game series that was supposed to begin today between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates has been postponed due to the Cardinals’ coronavirus outbreak. A total of nine Cardinals players and seven staff members are confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Jon Heyman reported yesterday that the Cardinals’ latest round of testing is expected to include at least one more positive result. St. Louis last played on July 29 and has played just five games since MLB began its 60-game season two weeks ago. According to The Athletic, Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said that some infected team members have visited the ER because of symptoms.
