Media Notes

NBC Sports Group yesterday let go an undetermined number of staffers across its RSNs and digital divisions. Two of the employees worked out of NBC Sports Washington -- Michael Jenkins and Sara Perlman, who co-hosted a radio show focused on gambling called “The Daily Line.” Also caught up in the layoffs are Craig Calcaterra, the longtime leader at HardballTalk, and Rob Dauster, who ran CollegeBasketballTalk. CollegeFootballTalk’s Bryan Fischer and HardballTalk’s Bill Baer also announced they were let go via Twitter (John Ourand, SBJ Media).

ADDING INSULT TO INJURY: ESPN’s Dan Le Batard “apologized for a tasteless poll question” regarding Magic F Jonathan Isaac, who tore his ACL on Sunday. The Twitter account for Le Batard’s radio show asked, "Is it funny the guy who refused to kneel immediately blew out his knee?" Le Batard later “recognized the error in judgment.” He tweeted, “We apologize for this poll question" (USA TODAY, 8/3).

CHANGING THE FORMULA: ESPN Radio 98.7 N.Y. “has a new lineup,” as the station will add national shows from Mike Greenberg and Max Kellerman to its "daily programming in the middle of this month." But the N.Y. POST's Andrew Marchand writes this “crushes the continuity it had built in recent years that has helped its afternoon show become No. 1 in the market.” The station now has “too many hosts on-air and too many shows” (N.Y. POST, 8/4).
