U.S. Open (Golf) Scratches Plans to Admit Fans

The 2020 U.S. Open will not have fans in attendance, the USGA announced yesterday. Because of the pandemic, the tournament had already been moved back from June 18-21 to Sept. 17-20, but the USGA had until recently been planning to include fans (even while PGA Tour events had announced they would not admit spectators).

This year’s competition, which will take place at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., will be the first U.S. Open not to play its final round on Father’s Day since 1975.
