Sounds Owner Frank Ward Shares Doubts On Nashville MLB Team

Triple-A PCL Nashville Sounds Owner Frank Ward said in order for MLB to bring a team to the city, local citizens are "probably going to have to agree to take on" up to almost $1B of debt, according to Gentry Estes of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Ward to this point "has not been a part of the Music City Baseball group" that is working to put an MLB team in Nashville. Ward's absence from the group "is notable." Ward said that it is "not that he's against the idea of a major league team in the city ... as much as he's skeptical about whether it can happen." Ward's opinions "should carry weight." He is someone who "understands both professional baseball and what it takes to get sports projects done in Nashville." On what an MLB team in Nashville would mean for the Sounds, Ward said, "I know what would happen. The Sounds would leave Nashville and go look for another Triple-A city" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 7/25).
