MLB.TV Subscribers Can Watch Games in VR This Season

Major League Baseball launched a new app for Oculus Quest that will allow MLB.TV subscribers to stream live games in virtual reality. Fans with an Oculus Quest headset can download the app for free on the platform’s store.

Full replays of games from the 2018 and 2019 seasons are already available on the app, and games from this year’s shortened season will stream live in VR. However, MLB.TV blackout restrictions will still limit subscribers to only stream out-of-market games.

VR game broadcasts will integrate advanced player tracking stats from MLB’s Statcast, and a 3D strike zone will show the location of every pitch during each at bat. The app also features an interactive calendar, score updates, standings and on-demand video highlights.
