Univ. of North Carolina men’s basketball coach ROY WILLIAMS and his wife, WANDA, "donated over $600,000 to fund the scholarships of 2020 spring sport seniors returning for another season in 2021." UNC AD BUBBA CUNNINGHAM said that Williams "called him March 12, the day the NCAA canceled all spring sports championships, and offered to pay for those students’ scholarships" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/24).

DIAMOND DREAMS: Sources said that ALEX RODRIGUEZ and JENNIFER LOPEZ are "investing in a Viagra-selling wellness startup -- and the deal could help enlarge their coffers as they pursue a deal to buy the Mets." Hims is "in talks to sell itself to a special-purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, in a deal valuing it" at $1B. Rodriguez and Lopez "inked a deal to be the face of Hims" last December. A source said that Rodriguez and Lopez also are "investors in the company, with Lopez signing on to be the face of Hers, a line of products for women" (N.Y. POST, 7/24).

NAMES: Pistons Vice Chair ARN TELLEM and his family "donated $139,000 to the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy." The money will be used to "purchase a new laptop computer for every student" (DETROIT NEWS, 7/24)....A's Exec Producer/Video Content & Ballpark Entertainment AMELIA SCHIMMEL is "subbing" for PA announcer DICK CALLAHAN, her friend and mentor, while he "sits out of the season for health reasons." During Monday's exhibition game against the Giants, Schimmel "became the first woman to handle the microphone duties at the Coliseum" (S.F. CHRONICLE 7/24)....Agent ADIE VON GONTARD, co-Founder of Dallas-based Young Money APAA Sports on Wednesday announced that Mavericks C WILLIE CAULEY-STEIN has been added to its "growing stable of NBA clients." APAA Sports' other co-Founder is LIL WAYNE (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/22).
