LAFC Giving Out Masks, Hand Sanitizer If Fans Allowed At Games

LAFC and the team’s technology sponsor CLEAR will provide fans complimentary co-branded facemasks and hand sanitizer packets if and when people are allowed inside Banc of California Stadium following the MLS is Back tournament. “The folks at CLEAR saw it as a pretty cool extension of their core partnership,” said LAFC Exec VP & Chief Business Officer Larry Freedman. “This one fits the brand. They’re built around taking care of people.” Co.Protect, a branded protective equipment provider and current supplier of facemasks for all teams and staff in Orlando, will work with the team and technology company on distributing more than 100,000 facemasks and packets at upcoming LAFC matches. Visiting supporters also will receive facemasks and sanitizer packets but with the MLS logo. LAFC co-Owner & President Tom Penn is a co-Founder of Co.Protect. LAFC and CLEAR in early August also will distribute another 100,000 masks to season-ticket holders, similar to the ones being worn by players in the Orlando tournament. Freedman declined to comment on how costs are being covered for the items.

MORE THAN JUST FACEMASKS: CLEAR’s facial biometric ticketing also will resume at Banc of California Stadium in '20 while its Health Pass screening and contactless feature also will be integrated into LAFC’s venues and offices to determine the risk of COVID-19. It is still unclear how fans will utilize the Health Pass feature as they enter Banc of California Stadium. “Everybody will be taking temperatures and if you’ve been tested by a certified testing provider, that information, obviously your choice, that information can go into the app,” Freedman explained. “You’re basically in a position to demonstrate you’re perfectly healthy.”
