Syracuse Asks New York Gov. Cuomo For Clarity On Fan Attendance

Syracuse wants clarification from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on "whether fans will be able to attend games at the Carrier Dome this fall," according to Nate Mink of the Syracuse POST-STANDARD. The state's decision to bar spectators from attending college games "has raised questions on how long the ban would be in place and whether schools can continue planning to host a reduced capacity crowd at a latter date." Cuomo's decision is a "more drastic measure than other regions around the country." Syracuse has been "planning to accommodate some football fans coming to the Carrier Dome this fall, modeling seating plans ranging from 25% to 50% capacity" (Syracuse POST-STANDARD, 7/22). Cuomo yesterday said that current guidance "will prohibit fans from attending college games when and if they are played in the fall." Cuomo: "The games can go on, the game can be televised, but no fans" (Albany TIMES-UNION, 7/22).
