Staples Center Receives Top Rating For Cleanliness Amid Pandemic

Staples Center is the first U.S. arena to receive the Global Biorisk Advisory Council's GBAC STAR facility accreditation, which is considered the venue management industry's gold standard for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention protocols at facilities. The accreditation verifies that Staples Center has adopted best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics. To receive the rating, the venue had to comply with program’s 20 core elements, which range from risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures. Staples Center's sanitization protocols will continue during live events with or without guests inside the arena and throughout the office work spaces. The venue will have restroom attendants keeping high-touch areas clean, a team of “sanitization monitors” auditing and evaluating all areas, including high-touch guest areas such as in arena seats and arm rests, escalator, stair handrails, faucets, soap dispensers, restroom fixtures which have been modified. The venue's facilities food and beverage areas will be sanitized according to EPA-approved sanitization guidelines.
